Race, Religion, Age, Sexual Orientation And Gender Essay

Humans have always found characteristics with which they distinguish themselves from one another. This division breeds discrimination between the groups, with the voice of the majority outweighing the voice of the minority. Today the characteristics that define the groups most prevalently affected by discrimination are race, religion, age, sexual orientation and gender. However, even the minutest physical characteristics, like hair color, can give reason for this baseless prejudice. In Japan, early records show evidence of an â€Å"untouchable† social class that occupied undesirable jobs like butchery and tending to the dead. Since the Japanese Edo Period from 1600 to 1867, there has existed a strict social hierarchy. Occupying the lowest rung of this hierarchy are burakumin, which translates to â€Å"village people†. The offensiveness of this designation is not apparent until it is known that the translation for the class descendant of samurai (the â€Å"purest† Japanese) is â€Å"ordinary people†. Burakumin were perceived as lesser people by this upper class, called futsÃ… «min. Meanwhile, Koreans in Japan did not have an easier experience. They faced unjust immigration laws when attempting to enter and stay in Japan, and racism from Japanese citizens once they had arrived (Rabson 220-223). Discrimination in America has been more diverse during its relatively short history. During the mid to late 1800’s, Chinese in America were the targets of a large portion of this racism. Reverberations JFK Assassination

Question: Discuss about the Reverberations JFK Assassination. Answer: Introduction According to Brown (n.d), previous empirical studies in 2013 revealed that more than 60% of the Americans consider Kennedys assassination involved a group of conspirators to execute the killing. Contemporary, until today 2017, Kennedy remains the most recent president to die while in office, where the rationality of many organizations and security intelligence investigations findings posits that criminal conspiracy and parties were greatly involved in the assassination. According to Lifton, the Warren report asserts that Kennedy was shot from behind, while the autopsy report indicates that he was shot from rear; which stirs his zeal for the conspiracy report (Salisbury 45). Lifton adamantly states that Kennedys body was tempered with to hide the shooters as well as alter the evidence to arrest the assassinators. Theoretically, this paper will debate on was JFK's dead body secretly manipulated to alter his wounds? According to David Lifton, just after the assassination, unknown conspirators of the Air Force One, transferred Kennedys body from the initial bronze-made casket into a shipping casket; on air, while on the route to from Dallas to Washington. Moreover, Lifton asserts that, on arrival at the Andrews Air force Base, Kennedys body was out of the media in the shipping casket, which was secretly taken by helicopter to unknown place believed to be the WALTER Reed Armey Medical Centre (Salisbury 34). Confidently, Lifton believes that Kennedys body was altered at Walter Reed Medical Centre to certify the Secret Service agents reports that Kennedy body was hot from rear. According to Ambrose (67), Liftons research coincides with the Church Committee that the Dallas police, the Commission, and the CIA collaborated to hide the films, videos, and photos taken by Zapruder to compromise the evidence of multiple killers involvement. In addition, the David Lifton argued that the reports presented by FBI and CIA were very malicious, deficient and heavily altered (Swanson n.d). Conclusively, Lifton asserts that FBI worked under pressure, influence, and on directory authority from unknown and unnamed higher governmental officials, the likes of Director Hoover.; to lie to the public that the body had on one bullet wound on his head; shot from rear. On the contrary, David Lifton, wrote that the assassination was executed by mobsters, who shot differently at Kennedys car from behind (Green 45). According to Liftons report, killing of Oswald marred the conspiracy rationale, which seemed a plot to mar the questioning of the main suspect. Significantly, according to Brown (n.d), Lifton believes that Kennedys body was stolen and mutilated in the morgue, which on November 22, 1963, saw the Dallas Police paraffin and scientific tests of the main suspect, Oswald, depicted that only the hands wound on Kennedys body was from his weapon, on a rear shot, while the cheek bullet wound was from the unknown. According to Lifton, the Dallas Police did not present the accurate results of the tests, which saw Kennedys body tempered during the Dallas to Washington Air force transfer. Ultimately, on the contrary, Warren Commission argued that Kennedys body revealed that only one man, Oswald was involved in the assassination, and the body was taken for an autopsy for further analysis. Due to the interruptions from the FBI and CIA, the Warren Commission found it had to reach Oswald, whom shot by Jack Ruby; the death appeared as a big blow to hide the core reason of the killing motive (Swanson n.d). According to Warren Commission, the bullet wounds on Kennedys head, and that on the leg were from same bullet cartridges of the rear shots, which led to the controversy in the reports of the autopsy and that of Dallas medical staff. The Warren report denied the Dallas medical staff claimed that the head bulled came from behind and passed through the 2 in-. by 2-I n; on the contrary, Lifton depicts that the autopsy report argued that the wound culminated from a rear shot; all which contradict the whole conspiracy theory in the assassination. Response Personally, there seems clear evidence that Kennedys body was altered by a group of people; which the government tried to hide through the Dallas/Bethesda medical forgery report. (Welsh 88). Evidently, the Air force that flew Kennedys body, operated the body, by claiming the behind wound culminated form the head surgery by the autopsy experts; which intentionally aimed to mar assassinators evidence. The contradictory report of FBI and the Dallas police further proves that the investigations by Lifton are true; that revolved around malicious interests, and motives of the higher government official like Hoover (Swanson n. d). Logically, Jack Ruby seemed to have been contracted to execute the killing of Oswald, who would maybe reveal the whole assassination plot if he had not been killed (Salisbury 56). In fact, according to the CIA, the Dallas Police, FBI and the HSCA reports, there is a concurrence of information that there was evidence distortion; through the medical forgery of the h ead surgery, all which coincidentally try to shield the witnesses from conveying the actual occurrence and motive of the assassination (Brown n.d).. According to Lifton, medical forgery, information distortion, and Oswalds death by Ruby were part of conspiracy. Apparently, it appears as a clear plan to kill Oswald; because no one has the guts to shoot and kill publicly. Funny enough, the different versions of Dallas and the autopsy reports puts it clear that there were confusions to mar Kennedys body wounds reports. Ruby was never questioned by the Police or the government intelligence agencies about his motives (Brown n. d). Evidently, the whole assassination plan looks like a state affair, a political and power battle to eliminate Kennedy. Conclusively, Kennedy was assassinated through conspiracy crime group, mandated and instructed by higher government officials; and who had to alter the body-wounds evidences to hide the real suspects. A3 Sidd Preeyam Mehta Essay

A3 Sidd Preeyam Mehta Essay A3 Sidd Preeyam Mehta Essay Preeyam Mehta Mrs. Barter Academic English IV 3 November 2014 Siddartha Theme Essay Ovinda search is a universal understanding of life also known as Nirvana. Siddhartha and Govinda both have a fundamental desire to understand their lives through spirituality. They seek to do this by reaching Nirvana which is a state of eternal bliss. Often times, people have their own spiritual desires and they must follow their own journey to get there. In Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, Siddhartha goes about his life on the search for enlightenment. While his spiritual journey was quite different from Govindas, their result was quite similar. Siddarthas path to nirvana varies from Govindas path in many ways. In Siddhartha’s case, when he becomes suspicious that one path may lead to a dead end, he quickly alters his course. He is willing to abandon the path of the Brahmins for the path of the Samanas, to leave the Samanas for Gotama, and then to make a radical departure from spiritual teachers and search in the material world with Kamala and Kamaswami. He does not stop in his search and instead continues to follow whatever path becomes available. â€Å"And Siddhartha spoke with a smile: "I do not know, I've never been a drunkard. But that I, Siddhartha, find only a short numbing of the senses in my exercises and meditations and that I am just as far removed from wisdom, from salvation, as a child in the mother's womb, this I know, oh Govinda, this I know." (37) Here, Siddhartha implies that it is impossible to truly know something until you have experienced it. This quote is important because it highlights something that Siddhartha strongly believes in the fact that wisdom comes from experience. Siddhartha believes that the only way to attain nirvana is by being able to master everything and therefore detaching yourself from worldly concerns and freeing yourself from the cycle of life and death. Here, Siddhartha is attempting to master another thing as he learns the art of merchanting from Kamaswami and the art of loving from Kamala. Govindas approach to attaining spiritual enlightenment emphasises being a follower and a religious attendee. In Govindas quest, he restricts himself to the spiritual and religious world and focuses on getting teachers. Although Siddhartha is willing to break with religion itself and to abandon all his training, Govinda is willing to seek truth only as long as it seems within the religions of Hinduism or Buddhism and is transmitted by a

Property Sales and Marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Property Sales and Marketing - Essay Example The next step is to get a HIP before a real estate agent can take on marketing aspect of the sale. The HIP or Home information Pack is a must for houses being sold in Wales and England. This ensures that complete information is available on the market. According to law a HIP should contain key information on the property being marketed and must be provided by the seller’s agent. The HIP ensures that there are no confusions about property being sold in minds of the buyers and give buyers important information at start of the sales process. Therefore there are fewer chances of delays etc because of misinterpretation of information. A very comprehensive way of gathering information about a property is through a property questionnaire. This is a document filled in by prospective home seller and contains information such as property size, expected value, items available, condition, any issues etc. This questionnaire must accompany EPC (Energy Performance Report), Sustainability certificate (for new homes only) and sale statement of address. The sale statement of address must include the name of seller, title and address etc. The agent must make sure that seller ha submitted copies of original documents which show ownership of the property. These official copies are usually held by the land registry. Some time properties are mortgaged etc. Evidence of this extra information that includes any other tenancies affecting the property must be gathered as well. After gathering all related documents about the property, agent should conduct a survey to ensure all the information checks out. This survey would usually inclu de a complete house check and a visit to local authorities. The real skills of each sales agent is seen when he has to market a sales, therefore each real estate broker has to be as creative as possible, in order to gain a competitive edge over rivals. Corporate governance in Islamic banks Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Corporate governance in Islamic banks - Essay Example In order to understand the value of this study it would be necessary to refer to the content of corporate governance. Various definition have been given for corporate governance. An indicative one is that of Pedersen who noted that ‘corporate governance - the mechanisms by which companies are controlled and directed - is a complex subject that consists of owner-manager relations, stakeholder relations, board structures and practices, management compensation, capital structure, company law, and other variables’; from another point of view corporate governance is characterized ‘as the top management process that manages and mediates value creation for, and value transference among, various corporate claimants in a context that ensures accountability to these claimants’; in the same context, corporate governance is described as a tool for enhancing the control of stakeholder on a specific organization. It is clear from the above that corporate governance is usu ally developed in accordance with the interests and the perceptions of a firm’s leading team – usually the firm’s board; however, there are specific rules that needs to be applied. OECD presents the legal framework in which a firm’s corporate governance has to be developed. In the context of these rules it is stated that ‘all shareholders should be treated equally’. In the case of banks, the development of corporate governance practices may be differentiated compared to the organizations in other industrial sectors; the high risk involve in banking activities would be the major criterion for the rules including in the corporate governance scheme developed by firms in the banking industry.

Persuasion Techniques In Advertisement Media Media Essay

Persuasion Techniques In Advertisement Media Media Essay Introduction The main theme of this paper is to discuss the topic of persuasion in the media through the usage of several examples to explain some of the techniques used to perform this function. Persuasion is one of the many different types of communication that exist, and the best way to begin to define the persuasive communication is primarily giving a definition of what communication is. A quite widespread definition about what communication is would be to say that communication is the action or process where there is an exchange of information of any kind between two or more individuals. Also, it is important to understand that this process is dynamic, transactional, it affects both the sender of the message, and who listen to it and receive it. Persuasive communication is outside our consciousness, since it influences us and manipulates more than what we usually realize. We often hear about the power of specific communicators. We also know that those who control information are very powerfu l. When we talk about the power public speaking, we are only recognizing what experts have known for years, we recognize that communication that influences others is a powerful weapon. The main problem is that the persuasive communication is a tool that can be used for good or bad purposes, to change behaviors, but in one way or another it is important to recognize that it is a powerful tool. For this reason, although the communication fulfils different functions, the purpose is this paper is to show how in the media through the marketing advertisements, we can also use persuasion as a tool to persuade the audience into buying a product. Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) Slim Fast In this ad for Slim Fast, the target audience is middle class females who are in a stage of their lives in which they have a successful career. Women are very aware of their weight usually more than men do. Also inside their main audience target, the ad appeals minority females in their 30 and older since this is the time when most start to achieve success climbing the career ladder and at the same time most already have family making it more difficult to take care of their bodies since time is now limited and there is no much room for exercise. The quick and easy answer is Slim Fast. Therefore, the ad shows that a woman in her 30s can have a healthy and thin body because she uses the Slim Fast product. Even the name is persuasive, Slim-Fast, this implies not much work, for people in a hurry to lose weight. In the ad they used as spokesperson a celebrity, a person women could identify with and the before and after pictures are always very effective to persuade audience this is a trusted product. This audience is all about success, and to represent a person who is being successful in life, we must be thin. Not being able to take good care of your body, especially for women in the professional work environment could be seen as a failure. The ad utilizes strategies from the Elaboration Likelihood Model(ELM) to persuade its audience. First the ad uses visual elements to motivate the usage of mental processes to motivate audience to accept the persuasive message. The ad makes good use of the analysis results to understand the audience in order to come up with the ad strategy. In the ELM model the ad used the peripheral route by the celebrity endorsement since it is a way to connect the audience with the product since it helps the receiver think about something that the person is familiar wit h(after all weight lost, is a Fact of Life-TV show where the celebrity being used in this ad became popular back in the early 80s, period when the target audience where in their late teens) and to rely on audience lack of capability to achieve the goal to reduce weight. Lastly self-esteem is effectively appealed by this same route since by gaining audience emotional involvement to demonstrate if the actress selected was able to do it, the audience can do it too. Social Judgment Theory In this advertisement for Mercedes-Benz, the target audience is upper middle class individuals who are coming up in the professional ladder. Young executives like to demonstrate in the way they dress, what they eat, and more important what they drive, that they are successful people. For most people cars make a social status statement, and what better statement to show everybody how successful we are, by getting a Mercedes-Benz. The biggest challenge for many people in getting such a prestigious car is the cost, and in the ad, they already give the solution; raise expectations, but not the payments. The persuasive message is why settling for less if now you can get a Mercedes-Benz for an affordable price. This ad uses subliminal persuasion since in the picture the car is driving up, or heading up. In other words, once again, we see the message about moving up the professional ladder. In addition in the picture the cars wheels are in motion, another subliminal message of the always m oving and fast-paced on how people judge individuals who are working towards achieving their goals. It is interesting to see in the picture the lack of color to give the impression of a classical and somewhat elegant item. This advertisement utilizes strategies from the Social Judgment Theory to persuade its audience. My interpretation of the use of this theory in the ad, is that when people receive the nonverbal message, they immediately judge the ad message based on how they view and measure being successful, and to be able to own this car, will give them the prestige they view as representation of the success they are experiencing in their personal and professional lives. The message was crafted keeping in mind an audience who has a high ego-involvement based on their values and views of how they measure success and this enable a high level of acceptance/agreement with the message. Professionals in their social networks and affiliations usually will agree with the majority opinion more often than not, and in this type of groups most of them own or wish they could own a Mercedes-Benz. This is a result of high ego-involvement, or taking on the groups views/judgments as ones own. Subliminal Co-Creation Theories In this lipstick ad, the target audience is women-young adults in their 20s 30s who are not afraid to express themselves. They want to look sexy, they want to feel sexy for the opposite sex, and they are looking for company and what better than using a red lipstick. Young adults are always looking for action, are not afraid of risks, and in this ad we see two nice looking adults who are not afraid to demonstrate to each other how they are feeling and what they want. The persuasive approach is very graphic and it is used by having beautiful women with white complexion to highlight the redness of her bold, shiny lips. The use of sex appeal, and color, is part of the persuasion process to convince audience it is ok to be beautiful and this lipstick will give them the lips theyve always wanted and it would drive men crazy. The subliminal approach continues with the way she is using the lipstick (girls mouth open while using the lipstick) and the man kissing her, suggesting that she feels sexy wearing the lipstick and it could lead for more than just a kiss. The Co-creation process is clearly used in this ad since it leads audience to co-create what is going on or what is about to happen with the couple in the picture. Once again this is a very effective approach to appeal to the main audience this ad is targeting since they are in their prime age and are interested to attract the opposite sex. The picture is not complete since we cannot see where th ey are, are they dressed or not dressed? or what their eyes look like, giving audience the opportunity to imagine different scenarios where the action is taking place; her apartment, his house, or at a club. The co-creation process is used by omitting information in the picture which helps audience co-create their own unique scenario with the expectation that this will help persuade potential buyers to get the product since once we co-create a unique scenario it can have a more effective appeal to me as an individual. Compliance Gaining Theory Kama Sutra Condoms In this ad for Kama Sutra condoms, the target audience is adults in their 20s to 30s who are self-confidents and are very clear of what they want and are not afraid to ask for it. Men self esteem many times is measured by the capability to satisfy women, and the ad provides an answer to this dilemma. This ad persuades men with the message that they not just will have sex but they will be able to enjoy it more because they would achieve to experience it for much longer by using this condom. In the other hand Women are also persuaded with this ad, since the message is that not only they will have safe-sex by getting protection, but it will not limit their capability to be satisfied. The picture shows a good-looking people which also appeals to audience by sending this message that good-looking people know how to have fun. I believe sexually explicit pictures attract attention, are interesting and engaging, and direct processing resources toward the sexual stimulus and this lead to a p ositive attitude towards the product. This advertisement utilizes strategies from the Compliance Gaining Theory to persuade its audience. The persuasive message is very interpersonal by clearly establishing the promise that the people who use this product are rewarded. The product clearly sends this message by writing in big letters right in the front package: long last. There are different elements of this theory used in this ad, since also I can see the debt factor playing in the persuasive message, since most men feel like they owe women the pleasure of sex. In addition, self-feeling is very evident since using this product will make both feel very good by having a long and fulfilling time. The esteem element is also played in the ad since the ad establishes that by using it, the partners will be satisfied. In summary both female and male audience will be positively influenced by this ad by appealing to their self-gratification. CONCLUSION We can see how in the media and in particular advertising, the process of persuasion is critical in order to achieve success through the process to convince the audience to acquire certain products, either goods or services. To achieve persuasion, advertising media uses different methods and strategies to present a product or service as something necessary for the consumer. We are surrounded by advertising everywhere. Posters in the subway, clothing brands, advertisements on television, making us feel we are constantly being targeted by persuasion messages which are impossible to get rid of it. Advertising is executed by people and, therefore, is subject to the same virtues and their same defects but, what is very important is to acknowledge that it is a powerful communication tool. For that reason, it is important to learn more about the different persuasion strategies that are used in the media in order to determine when we are being targeted to get something that really we do not need or convince us to change our principles.
